Calculating Approximate Standard Errors and Confidence Intervals for Current Population Survey Estimates

چکیده
Approximate standard errors and confidence intervals for CPS estimates can be calculated using instructions in this document and the parameter and factor tables (PF-1 through PF-16) available online at https://www.bls.gov/cps/parameters-and-factors-for-calculating-standard-errors.xlsx. (These tables mirror tables A-1 through A-16 of the monthly Employment Situation news release.) The parameter and factor tables allow users to calculate approximate standard errors for a wide range of estimated levels, rates, and percentages, and also changes over time. The parameters and factors are used in formulas that are commonly called generalized variance functions.

Computations of Confidence Intervals for Estimates in the United States National Hospital Discharge Survey, 1979–2000
INTRODUCTION The National Hospital Discharge Survey is a primary data source for epidemiology research in the United States. To ensure that estimates are reliable, confidence intervals need to be calculated. The original survey data source is not available to the public, and the usual statistical methods are unsuitable for calculating confidence intervals. Instead, calculating confidence interv...
متن کاملComparison of Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Bayesian with Generalized Gibbs Sampling for Ordinal Regression Analysis of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome
Background and Objectives: Analysis of ordinal data outcomes could lead to bias estimates and large variance in sparse one. The objective of this study is to compare parameter estimates of an ordinal regression model under maximum likelihood and Bayesian framework with generalized Gibbs sampling. The models were used to analyze ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome data. Methods: This study use...
متن کاملArea specific confidence intervals for a small area mean under the Fay-Herriot model
‎Small area estimates have received much attention from both private and public sectors due to the growing demand for effective planning of health services‎, ‎apportioning of government funds and policy and decision making‎. ‎Surveys are generally designed to give representative estimates at national or district level‎, ‎but estimates of variables of interest are oft...
متن کاملMonte Carlo Comparison of Approximate Tolerance Intervals for the Poisson Distribution
The problem of finding tolerance intervals receives very much attention of researchers and are widely used in various statistical fields, including biometry, economics, reliability analysis and quality control. Tolerance interval is a random interval that covers a specified proportion of the population with a specified confidence level. In this paper, we compare approximate tolerance interva...
متن کاملThe impact of complex survey design on prevalence estimates of intakes of food groups in the Australian National Children's Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey.
OBJECTIVE To assess the impact of the complex survey design used in the 2007 Australian National Children's Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey (ANCNPAS07) on prevalence estimates for intakes of groups of foods in the population of children. DESIGN The impacts on prevalence estimates were determined by calculating design effects for values for food group consumption. The implications of ig...
